Showcasing College of Wyoming computing analysis and exploring how computing can
create financial alternatives for the state might be central to the inaugural Wyoming
Computing Symposium from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, within the Wyoming Union.
The symposium, “Rising Computing Approaches, Applied sciences and Functions,” is
sponsored by the UW Faculty of Computing and Division of Electrical Engineering and Pc Science. It will likely be a part of the 2023 Wyoming Blockchain Stampede and WyoBuildathon Sept.
11-15, introduced by the UW Middle for Blockchain and Digital Innovation.
The symposium is free and open to the general public. Preregistration is inspired. To register

“We’re excited to launch our first Wyoming Computing Symposium to be co-hosted with
the Wyoming Blockchain Stampede,” says Gabrielle Allen, a professor and director of
the Faculty of Computing. “The symposium will give attention to new computing areas which can be
necessary in Wyoming and past, together with distributed computing and blockchain.”
Allen says the symposium will “spotlight the rising experience in computing throughout
our educational items, together with the brand new Faculty of Computing and the departments of Electrical
Engineering and Pc Science, and Arithmetic and Statistics.”
“I’m excited to have a few of our college students share their wonderful analysis and purposes,”
says Bryan Shader, a professor of arithmetic and interim head of the Division of
Electrical Engineering and Pc Science. “If you wish to be wowed and really feel good
about UW, I encourage you to attend the poster periods and the spherical of lightning
talks. UW college students and college are doing wonderful issues for Wyoming in computing.”
UW President Ed Seidel will ship opening remarks, adopted by keynote audio system,
panels and college quick talks all through the day.
Keynote audio system are Mary Corridor, director of the Kahlert Faculty of Computing on the
College of Utah, and Rabia Yazicigil, an assistant professor {of electrical} and
pc engineering and college affiliate of the Middle for Data and Programs
Engineering at Boston College. Corridor focuses on compilers and automated parallelization.
Yazicigil works in safe energy-constrained gadgets with purposes in well being care
and “Web of Issues” at Boston College.
“Advancing the Wyoming Economic system By means of Computing: Imaginative and prescient, Alternatives and Challenges”
